Forum Thread: Accutane Online - Is It Safe?

DrMedHelpPosted 2 days ago

Hi everyone! I've been seeing a lot of ads for Acctune (I think that's how they spell it) online and was wondering if anyone knows whether buying it from these websites is legit or not. My dermatologist prescribed Accutane for my severe acne, but the cost at the pharmacy is quite high.

Hey DrMedHelp! I think you're referring to "Accutane," which is a prescription drug used to treat severe nodular acne. Buying it online can be very risky and potentially dangerous. Most websites that offer Accutane without a proper prescription are likely scams or selling counterfeit drugs.

Thanks, SkinnyDerm! That's really helpful to know. I'm trying to find the best way to manage my acne treatment costs without compromising safety. Do you have any advice?

SkinnyDermPosted 2 days ago

Absolutely, DrMedHelp! First off, always ensure that you're purchasing Accutane from a licensed pharmacy with a valid prescription. You can ask your dermatologist about the possibility of getting samples or if they know of any programs offered by pharmaceutical companies for financial assistance.

Additionally, some pharmacies offer discounts or loyalty programs that might help reduce costs. It's also worth checking if your insurance covers part of the cost or looking into mail-order pharmacies which sometimes have more competitive prices.

Avoiding online sellers without a valid prescription is crucial because not only are you risking legal issues (as it’s illegal to purchase controlled substances without a proper Rx), but you could be dealing with counterfeit medications that can harm your health.

Hi DrMedHelp! I’ve been through the same thing. My dermatologist recommended generic alternatives like isotretinoin, which is essentially the same medication as Accutane but less expensive. They’re available in most pharmacies and often covered by insurance. You might want to ask your doctor about this option.

Thanks so much, SkinnyDerm and AcneWarrior123! This information is really reassuring. I'll definitely talk to my dermatologist about the generic alternatives and look into any financial assistance programs they might know of.

I was just worried because some of these online ads seem pretty legitimate with lots of positive reviews. But it’s clear now that those are likely fake reviews designed to lure unsuspecting patients like myself.

You're very welcome, DrMedHelp! It's great that you're doing your research and being cautious about where you get your medication from. If anything seems off or too good to be true (like extremely low prices), it probably is a scam.

Always prioritize your health and safety when dealing with prescription medications. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have more questions!

AcneWarrior123Posted 2 days ago

Absolutely, DrMedHelp! Just remember that the safest way to get Accutane or any other medication is through a licensed healthcare provider. And if you ever feel unsure about something your doctor suggests, it’s okay to seek second opinions.

Thank you both again for all this valuable advice! I really appreciate the support and will be more cautious when dealing with online ads in the future. Back to my dermatologist I go!
